سُوْرَةُ المَآئِدَةِ
Surah Al-Maaida (5) — Ayah 84
وَمَا لَنَا لَا نُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَا جَآءَنَا مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ وَنَطْمَعُ أَن يُدْخِلَنَا رَبُّنَا مَعَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ﴿84﴾

"And why should we not believe in Allâh and in that which has come to us of the truth (Islâmic Monotheism)? And we wish that our Lord will admit us (in Paradise on the Day of Resurrection) along with the righteous people (Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and his Companions رضي الله عنهم)."

(Ayah 84) {مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الصّٰلِحِيْنَ:} and that we do not hope that our Lord will admit us among the righteous, that is, that our resurrection will be with the Muslims. In this case, {’’وَ نَطْمَعُ ‘‘} will be conjunct to {’’لَا نُؤْمِنُ ‘‘}, and it is also possible that the sentence of { ’’ وَ نَطْمَعُ ‘‘} is a circumstantial clause (haal) for the pronoun in {’’ لَا نُؤْمِنُ ‘‘}, and the meaning would be: Why should we not believe, while we hope that our Lord will admit us among His righteous servants, that is, we must certainly believe; to expect and hope to be admitted among the righteous on the Day of Resurrection without believing is utter ignorance and foolishness.
