Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 80) ➊ {تَرٰى كَثِيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ …… :} That is, this was the condition of the people before them, and now this is the condition of those who are present. (Kabir) Like Ka'b bin Ashraf and other individuals from the Jewish tribes of Madinah, who, in their enmity towards the Muslims, maintained friendship with the polytheists of Makkah and the hypocrites of Madinah.

{لَبِئْسَ مَا قَدَّمَتْ لَهُمْ اَنْفُسُهُمْ ……:} That is, by establishing friendship with the disbelievers (the polytheists of Makkah and the hypocrites of Madinah), the People of the Book have made preparations against the Muslims, the result of which is that in this world, Allah's wrath has descended upon them, and in the Hereafter, they have also become deserving of eternal punishment.
