Those among the Children of Israel who disbelieved were cursed by the tongue of Dâwûd (David) and ‘Îsâ (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). That was because they disobeyed (Allâh and the Messengers) and were ever transgressing beyond bounds.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 78) {لُعِنَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا مِنْ بَنِيْۤ اِسْرَآءِيْلَ ……:} This disbelief of the Israelites was in opposition to their respective prophets; thus, in the time of Dawud (David) (peace be upon him), they broke the law of "Sabbath," and in the time of Isa (Jesus) (peace be upon him), despite witnessing miracles, they denied his prophethood. For the curse in the words of Dawud (peace be upon him), see Psalms (78:21, 22, 23), and for the curse in the words of Masih (Jesus) (peace be upon him), see Gospel of Matthew (23:31, 32). The meaning of "curse" is distance from Allah's mercy and goodness.
