Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
O Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم)! Proclaim (the Message) which has been sent down to you from your Lord. And if you do not, then you have not conveyed His Message. Allâh will protect you from mankind. Verily, Allâh guides not the people who disbelieve.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 67)➊ {وَاِنْلَّمْتَفْعَلْفَمَابَلَّغْتَرِسَالَتَهٗ:} That is, if anything from Allah’s message is concealed, or there is any negligence in delivering it, then it is as if His message has not been delivered at all, especially the proclamations concerning the Jews and Christians. This verse refutes those who say about the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he did not convey some verses of the Qur’an to the Muslims, but only told Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and the Ahl al-Bayt. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) himself refuted this false belief of theirs. Abu Juhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): “Do you (Ahl al-Bayt) have any other book?” He replied: “No, except for Allah’s Book, or the understanding of Allah’s Book which is granted to any Muslim man, or what is in this scroll.” I asked: “What is in this scroll?” He said: “Ahadith about blood money and the freeing of captives, and that a Muslim should not be killed in retaliation for a disbeliever.” [بخاری، العلم، باب کتابۃ العلم :۱۱۱ ] Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Whoever says that Muhammad (peace be upon him) concealed anything from what Allah revealed to him, he has certainly lied, because Allah said: «يٰۤاَيُّهَاالرَّسُوْلُبَلِّغْمَاۤاُنْزِلَاِلَيْكَمِنْرَّبِّكَ» “O Messenger! Convey what has been sent down to you from your Lord.” [ بخاری، التفسیر، باب : « یأیھا الرسول بلغ ما أنزل إلیک من ربک» : ۴۶۱۲ ] Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said in his sermon (on the day of the Farewell Hajj): “You will be asked about me, so what will you say?” The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: “We all bear witness that you have conveyed the message of Prophethood and fulfilled its right, and that you have given sincere advice.” Upon this, he raised his finger towards the sky and pointed towards the Companions, saying: “O Allah! Bear witness, O Allah! Bear witness.” [ مسلم ، الحج، باب حجۃ النبی : ۱۲۱۸۔ بخاری : ۱۷۴۱ ]
➋ {وَاللّٰهُيَعْصِمُكَمِنَالنَّاسِ:} Allah Almighty took the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) into special protection and said that you deliver My message, I Myself will protect you from the people. Before the revelation of this verse, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to be guarded. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that one night the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was not sleeping, and I was lying beside him. I said: “O Messenger of Allah! What is the matter?” He said: “If only a righteous man would guard me.” Shortly after, I heard the clatter of weapons. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) asked: “Who is it?” The newcomer said: “Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas.” The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) asked: “What brings you here?” He said: “O Messenger of Allah! I have come to guard you (tonight).” Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: “After that, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) slept peacefully, until I heard the sound of his snoring.” [ بخاری، الجہاد والسیر، باب الحراسۃ فی الغزو فی سبیل اﷲ : ۲۸۸۵۔ مسلم : ۲۴۱۰ ]
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that arrangements were made for the Prophet (peace be upon him) to be guarded, until this verse was revealed: «وَاللّٰهُيَعْصِمُكَمِنَالنَّاسِ» Then he put his head out of the tent and said: “People! Go away, Allah will protect me (from the enemy).” [ ترمذی، تفسیر القرآن، باب ومن سورۃ المائدۃ : ۳۰۴۶ ] An example of this is the Bedouin who, while the Prophet (peace be upon him) was sleeping, took hold of his sword and said: “Who will protect you from me?” He replied: “Allah!”
➌ {اِنَّاللّٰهَلَايَهْدِيالْقَوْمَالْكٰفِرِيْنَ:} That is, Allah Almighty will not let the disbelievers succeed in their intentions. (Kabir) Shah Abdul Qadir (may Allah have mercy on him) writes: That is, even if they are enemies, you deliver this message without worry and do not fear. (Muwadhih) Or it means that guidance and misguidance are in Allah’s hands, so if these people do not believe, do not worry. (Ibn Kathir)
