سُوْرَةُ المَآئِدَةِ
Surah Al-Maaida (5) — Ayah 61
وَإِذَا جَآءُوكُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَقَد دَّخَلُوا۟ بِٱلْكُفْرِ وَهُمْ قَدْ خَرَجُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْتُمُونَ ﴿61﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
When they come to you, they say: "We believe." But in fact they enter with (an intention of) disbelief and they go out with the same. And Allâh knows all what they were hiding.

(Ayah 61) ➊ {وَ اِذَا جَآءُوْكُمْ قَالُوْۤا اٰمَنَّا ……:} By this are meant those hypocrites among the Jews who lived in Medina and its surrounding areas. (Kabir)
➋ {وَ اللّٰهُ اَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوْا يَكْتُمُوْنَ:} That is, their hearts are filled with intense malice and envy towards the Muslims. Otherwise, if they had not come to you harboring disbelief in their hearts, then surely the gathering of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Muslims would have had some effect on them, and there would have been some decrease in their disbelief. But even when they left, they returned with as much or even more disbelief than they had brought with them.
➋ {وَ اللّٰهُ اَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوْا يَكْتُمُوْنَ:} That is, their hearts are filled with intense malice and envy towards the Muslims. Otherwise, if they had not come to you harboring disbelief in their hearts, then surely the gathering of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Muslims would have had some effect on them, and there would have been some decrease in their disbelief.
