Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 113) ➊ {قَالُوْانُرِيْدُاَنْنَّاْكُلَمِنْهَا:} That is, we are not asking for this miracle as a condition for believing, as the Children of Israel said to Musa (Moses), «لَنْنُّؤْمِنَلَكَحَتّٰىنَرَىاللّٰهَجَهْرَةً »[ البقرۃ : ۵۵ ] “We will never believe you until we see Allah openly.” Rather, we are asking due to a few reasons, one of which is that we are hungry or we want some food for blessing.
➋ {وَتَطْمَىِٕنَّقُلُوْبُنَا:} That is, we may be satisfied (which is the highest level of faith) and we may attain the knowledge of the level of ‘Ain al-Yaqeen (certainty of sight) that you are truly the Messenger of Allah, and so that we may bear witness before the Children of Israel that you are indeed the true Messenger.
