Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 18){ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَعْلَمُ غَيْبَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ … :} It has already been mentioned that Allah knows all things that are in the heavens and on the earth, and Allah is fully aware of everything. In this verse, this is further emphasized: do not think that He only knows those things of the heavens and the earth which are apparent, rather, He also knows those things which are hidden from sight, whether they have passed, are present now, or will come in the future. And whatever you are doing or will do in the future, Allah is fully watching it. In Nazm al-Durar, Qushayri said: "Whoever pauses here and reflects even a little, his comfort will be disturbed, because no one knows what is written in his unseen and what his end will be, and whether the blessing of faith will remain with him until death or not. Then what is there to claim and what favor is there to boast of? The same meaning is expressed in this poetry:

{أَبْكِيْ وَ هَلْ تَدْرِيْنَ مَا يُبْكِيْنِيْ ¤ أَبْكِيْ حَذَرًا أَنْ تُفَارِقِيْنِيْ ¤ وَ تَقْطَعِيْ حَبْلِيْ وَ تَهْجُرِيْنِيْ}

'I weep, and do you know what makes me weep? I weep out of fear that You may become separated from me, may cut off relations with me, and may abandon me.'"
