The believers are nothing else than brothers (in Islâmic religion). So make reconciliation between your brothers, and fear Allâh, that you may receive mercy.

(Ayah 10) ➊ {اِنَّمَاالْمُؤْمِنُوْنَاِخْوَةٌ :} The most effective way to prevent fighting is to make the fighters aware of their kinship: look, whom are you fighting? Your own brother—how terrible this is. That is why Allah has reminded the Muslims of their religious kinship, which is even stronger than blood kinship. Those who, before the advent of Islam, were bitter enemies despite their blood ties—such as the case of Aws and Khazraj—became brothers by the grace of Allah through Islam. (See Al Imran: 103) The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: [ اَلْمُسْلِمُأَخُوالْمُسْلِمِلَايَظْلِمُهُ،وَلاَيُسْلِمُهُ ][ بخاري، المظالم، باب لا یظلم المسلم المسلم ولایسلمہ : ۲۴۴۲، عن ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنھما ] “A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim; he neither oppresses him nor abandons him helpless.” ➋ The dual of {فَاَصْلِحُوْابَيْنَاَخَوَيْكُمْ: ’’أَخٌ‘‘} is {’’أَخَوَانِ‘‘} and {’’أَخَوَيْنِ‘‘}, and when it is annexed to {’’كُمْ‘‘}, the noon of declension drops, and {’’أَخَوَيْ‘‘} remains, which, when joined with {’’كُمْ‘‘}, becomes {’’ اَخَوَيْكُمْ ‘‘}, so make peace between your two brothers, whether the two are individuals or two groups. ➌ { وَاتَّقُوااللّٰهَلَعَلَّكُمْتُرْحَمُوْنَ:} That is, when making peace, keep in mind that you are reconciling between your two brothers, who also share the bond of brotherhood with you. Therefore, consider this relationship and make peace with complete justice and fear of Allah, so that neither party is deprived of their rights nor is anyone wronged. If you fulfill this duty fearing Allah, then surely Allah will have mercy on you. The word {’’لَعَلَّ‘‘} is used to give hope, but in the speech of great people, it conveys certainty, because it is not befitting their status to give hope and then not fulfill it. Then, when the King of kings and the Owner of the entire universe gives hope, how can there be any doubt about its certainty? Besides, the word {’’لَعَلَّ‘‘} also comes in the meaning of “so that.” The meaning is that Allah’s mercy is for those who fear Him, so when reconciling between brothers, fear Allah and make peace with justice, so that Allah’s mercy may be upon you. ➍ This verse connects all the Muslims of the world into one community. No matter where a Muslim is in the world, all other Muslims consider him a brother. Such a relationship is not found anywhere except in Islam. (Kilani)
