سُوْرَةُ الْفَتْحِ
Surah Al-Fath (48) — Ayah 22
وَلَوْ قَـٰتَلَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوَلَّوُا۟ ٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُونَ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا ﴿22﴾

And if those who disbelieve fight against you, they certainly would have turned their backs; then they would have found neither a Walî (protector, guardian) nor a helper.

(Ayah 22) ➊ { وَ لَوْ قٰتَلَكُمُ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا لَوَلَّوُا الْاَدْبَارَ:} Previously, Allah Almighty mentioned that He restrained the hands of the disbelievers from you so that they refrained from fighting; now it is stated that the apparent submission in making the treaty at Hudaybiyyah was not due to cowardice or out of fear that the Muslims might be defeated, but rather, there were many wisdoms considered in it, some of which have already been mentioned and some are being stated ahead. Thus, it is said that if, at that moment, the disbelievers had fought you, they would certainly have turned their backs and fled, and Makkah would have been conquered right then, but this was against the wisdom intended.
➋ { ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُوْنَ وَلِيًّا وَّ لَا نَصِيْرًا:’’ ثُمَّ ‘‘} The meaning of the word (then) is that after this, no matter how much time passes and no matter how many of these polytheists there may be, at no time will they find any supporter nor any helper.
➋ { ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُوْنَ وَلِيًّا وَّ لَا نَصِيْرًا:’’ ثُمَّ ‘‘} The meaning of the word (then) is that after this, no matter how much time passes and no matter how many of these polytheists there may be, at no time will they find any supporter nor any helper.
