And has subjected to you all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth; it is all as a favour and kindness from Him. Verily, in it are signs for a people who think deeply.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 13) ➊ In the previous verse and in this verse, the “lam” of {’’ سَخَّرَلَكُمْ ‘‘} is for benefit, meaning Allah Almighty has subjected the sea and everything in the heavens and the earth for your benefit and made them subservient to Himself. This does not mean that He has made all of this under your control. The heavens and the earth, the sun, the moon, and the sea are far beyond; even a person’s own breath and heartbeat are not under his own control, so what can the claim of subjugating the universe be except the rambling of a madman? The word {’’ جَمِيْعًامِّنْهُ ‘‘} is to clarify that making all these things work for your benefit is only His doing. Allah Almighty has stated at several places that He has subjected everything in the heavens and the earth for the benefit of mankind. See Surah Al-Hajj (65) and Surah Luqman (20).
➋ { اِنَّفِيْذٰلِكَلَاٰيٰتٍلِّقَوْمٍيَّتَفَكَّرُوْنَ:} That is, whoever sets aside stubbornness and obstinacy and reflects thoughtfully, seeing that all these blessings are given only by Allah Almighty, will be grateful to Him and worship Him alone.
