Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 24) {وَاتْرُكِالْبَحْرَرَهْوًا … : ’’رَهَا،يَرْهُوْرَهْوًا‘‘} (n) {’’ الْبَحْرُ ‘‘} The stillness of the sea. {’’رَهَاالرَّجُلُرَهْوًا‘‘} When a man spreads both legs and separates them. Here, that part of the story has been omitted in which it is mentioned that when the Children of Israel reached the sea, Pharaoh also arrived from behind, and the Children of Israel became very frightened that they would be captured again. Then Allah revealed to Musa (peace be upon him) to strike the sea with his staff. He did so, and the sea split, and each part of the water stood like a great mountain in its place. Musa (peace be upon him) and the Children of Israel passed safely, then Musa (peace be upon him) was commanded: «وَاتْرُكِالْبَحْرَرَهْوًا » "And leave the sea as it is, standing still." See Surah Ash-Shu'ara (52 to 68). Upon crossing the sea, Musa (peace be upon him) was commanded to leave the sea in that state, with separate paths open in it, and not to worry about pursuit; this army is to be drowned in that very sea.
