Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 66) ➊ {هَلْ يَنْظُرُوْنَ اِلَّا السَّاعَةَ اَنْ تَاْتِيَهُمْ بَغْتَةً:} This is the answer to the question that may arise from the last sentence of the previous verse: When will that "woe" (destruction) for the wrongdoers come, and what will be the nature of that painful punishment? The answer is that its coming is certain, whether it comes soon or late, so prepare for it; do not get involved in the debate about when it will come. {’’ بَغْتَةً ‘‘} (suddenly) itself means that you cannot know the time of its coming, because if the time of something's coming is known, then it is not sudden. See Surah Al-A'raf (187) and Surah Ya-Sin (49, 50).

{ وَ هُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُوْنَ:} Here is a question: After the word {’’ بَغْتَةً ‘‘} (suddenly), what is the need for {’’ وَ هُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُوْنَ ‘‘}? The answer is that sometimes things also come suddenly about which a person is thinking, and another answer is that this is an emphasis of {’’ بَغْتَةً ‘‘}.
