Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 72,71) ➊ {اِذِ الْاَغْلٰلُ فِيْۤ اَعْنَاقِهِمْ … : ’’ الْاَغْلٰلُ ‘‘ ’’ غُلٌّ‘‘} (with ḍammah on ghayn) is the plural of “ghullun” (a collar/ṭawq), meaning collar. {’’ السَّلٰسِلُ ‘‘ ’’سِلْسِلَةٌ‘‘} is the plural of “silsilah” (a chain). For the explanation of these verses, see Surah Ra’d (5).

{’’ يُسْحَبُوْنَ ‘‘ ’’سَحَبَ يَسْحَبُ سَحْبًا ‘‘} (fa) means to drag. { ’’ يُسْجَرُوْنَ ‘‘ ’’سَجَرَ يَسْجُرُ سَجْرًا} (nun) {التَّنُّوْرَ‘‘} means to throw into a furnace as fuel. That is, when these disbelievers who deny Allah’s verses and argue crookedly about them become thirsty, the angels will drag them to the place where intensely hot water will be boiling. After making them drink the hot water from there, they will be thrown back into their original place in Hell as fuel. See the explanation of Surah Saffat (66 to 68).
