Or do they envy men (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and his followers) for what Allâh has given them of His Bounty? Then We had already given the family of Ibrâhîm (Abraham) the Book and Al-Hikmah (As-Sunnah - Divine Revelation to those Prophets not written in the form of a book), and conferred upon them a great kingdom.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 54) The meaning is that in the descendants of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)'s son Ishaq (peace be upon him), prophethood and kingship remained for a long time, and Dawud and Sulaiman (peace be upon them) and other great messengers appeared. Now, from among the descendants of Ismail, Allah has honored the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with prophethood and messengership, so why are they jealous?! Here, { ”مِنْ فَضْلِهٖ“ } refers to prophethood and the honor of religion and worldly status that was attained through the blessing of prophethood. { ”الْكِتٰبَ“ } refers to the Divine Book, and { ”وَ الْحِكْمَةَ“ } refers to its understanding and acting upon it, and {”مُلْكًا عَظِيْمًا“} refers to sovereignty and dominance and authority.
