Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 139,138) {بَشِّرِ الْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ … :} "Basharat" means a message of happiness; here, it is said sarcastically that give the hypocrites the glad tidings of a painful punishment, those who take disbelievers as friends instead of Muslims, thinking that they will gain honor from it. Allah Almighty has said that honor is not in the friendship of disbelievers, rather all honor is in the hands of Allah. The same thing is mentioned in Surah Fatir (10) and Surah Munafiqun (8), and in fact, in Surah Munafiqun it is said: "But the hypocrites do not know" that their honor in the sight of Allah was lost due to disbelief, and the disbelievers never had honor to give them. Even if there appeared to be some, due to their duplicity, their credibility was also lost. [ خَسِرَ الدُّنْیَا وَالْآخِرَۃَ ]
