Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 126) That is, Allah making Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) His friends does not mean that, just as friends are equals, their ownership is also considered the same; and that Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was Allah's Khalil in that same sense—not so. Rather, the ownership of the heavens and the earth still belongs to Allah alone, and the encompassing of everything is also with Him alone. It is His grace and favor that He honors His special servants by declaring them His Khalil. If you want proof, look at the case of Ibrahim’s (peace be upon him) father Azar and the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) uncle Abu Talib.
