Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 110) {وَ مَنْ يَّعْمَلْ سُوْٓءًا اَوْ يَظْلِمْ نَفْسَهٗ … :} See more verses: Surah Az-Zumar (53, 54), Surah Al-Furqan (68 to 71), and Surah Aal-e-Imran (135). The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whenever a person commits a sin, then gets up and performs ablution well, then seeks forgiveness from Allah, Allah Almighty forgives him." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) recited this verse: «{ وَ الَّذِيْنَ اِذَا فَعَلُوْا فَاحِشَةً اَوْ ظَلَمُوْۤا اَنْفُسَهُمْ ذَكَرُوا اللّٰهَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوْا۠ لِذُنُوْبِهِمْ وَ مَنْ يَّغْفِرُ الذُّنُوْبَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ [ آل عمران : ۱۳۵ ] "And those who, when they commit an indecency or wrong themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins—and who forgives sins except Allah?" [ ترمذی، الصلاۃ، باب ما جاء فی الصلاۃ عند التوبۃ : ۴۰۶ ]

In this verse, the way to be protected from the evil consequences of all kinds of sins has been mentioned, and that is to repent and seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty. { ”سُوْٓءًا“ } Those sins by which a person harms others besides himself, such as false testimony and accusing an innocent person, and {”اَوْ يَظْلِمْ نَفْسَهٗ“} refers to those sins by which a person only harms himself, such as abandoning prayer and drinking alcohol, etc.
