He has created the heavens and the earth with truth. He makes the night to go in the day and makes the day to go in the night. And He has subjected the sun and the moon. Each running (on a fixed course) for an appointed term. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 5) ➊ {خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ :} That is, He created the heavens and the earth in a completely correct and proper manner. No one can call any of His creations wrong, nor can anyone present anything better than them, and He created them for a specific purpose and wisdom. See also Surah Al-An'am (73), Yunus (5), Al-Hijr (85), and An-Nahl (3).
{ يُكَوِّرُ الَّيْلَ عَلَى النَّهَارِ … : ’’كَوْرُ الْعِمَامَةِ وَ تَكْوِيْرُهَا‘‘} Wrapping a turban. In this verse, there is also an indication of the earth being round, that is, just as a turban is wrapped around the head so that each fold comes over the previous one and covers it, similarly Allah wraps the night over the day on the earth without any interval; as the fold of night advances, the light is concealed and darkness spreads, and behind it, the fold of day spreads in the form of the sun, through which the darkness of night is concealed and light spreads. See Surah Al-A'raf (54).
{ وَ سَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَ الْقَمَرَ … :} For its explanation, see Surah Ar-Ra'd (2).
{ اَلَا هُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْغَفَّارُ :} The word {’’ اَلَا ‘‘} is for the purpose that you should ponder deeply over the content of this verse and pay special attention to it. {’’ الْعَزِيْزُ ‘‘} That is, He who created the heavens and the earth with truth, who wraps the night over the day and the day over the night, He alone is dominant over all; no one has the power to prevent what He wishes to do, or do what He wishes to prevent. {’’ الْغَفَّارُ ‘‘ } That is, despite such dominance and power, the reason He has given respite to His disobedient ones is that, along with immense dominance, He is also extremely concealing of His servants' sins and exceedingly forgiving.
