Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 13){ قُلْ اِنِّيْۤ اَخَافُ اِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّيْ … :} That is, O Prophet! Say, if I disobey my Lord and, instead of making my worship and obedience sincere for Him, associate a partner with Him like you do, then I fear the punishment of a very great Day. The meaning is that even a person like me (whom Allah Almighty has made the leader of the children of Adam, whose all past and future sins have been forgiven), if he were to commit shirk by disobeying Allah, would fear the punishment of that great Day, so you should think about your own selves. For details, see the exegesis of Surah Az-Zumar (64, 65) and Surah Al-An'am (14, 15 and 81 to 88).
