Surah Saad (38) — Ayah 45

وَٱذْكُرْ عِبَـٰدَنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ أُو۟لِى ٱلْأَيْدِى وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ ﴿45﴾
And remember Our slaves, Ibrâhîm (Abraham), Ishâq (Isaac), and Ya‘qûb (Jacob), (all) owners of strength (in worshipping Us) and (also) of religious understanding.
وَٱذْكُرْ wa-udh'kur And remember
عِبَـٰدَنَآ ʿibādanā Our slaves
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ib'rāhīma Ibrahim
وَإِسْحَـٰقَ wa-is'ḥāqa and Isaac
وَيَعْقُوبَ wayaʿqūba and Ayyub
أُو۟لِى ulī possessors
ٱلْأَيْدِى l-aydī (of) strength
وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ wal-abṣāri and vision

(Ayah 45){ وَ اذْكُرْ عِبٰدَنَاۤ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ وَ اِسْحٰقَ … :} After the detailed mention of the first three prophets, a brief mention of several prophets is given. {’’ الْاَيْدِيْ ‘‘ ’’يَدٌ‘‘} is the plural of 'yad', which is used in the Arabic language in the meaning of blessing and also in the meaning of strength. In this regard, the meaning of these prophets being {’’ اُولِي الْاَيْدِيْ ‘‘} (those with hands) is that they possessed great strength in worship and in enjoining good and forbidding evil, and also that they had many blessings from Allah Almighty. In the explanation of {’’ الْاَبْصَارِ ‘‘} (eyes), all commentators agree that it refers to religious insight and the recognition of Allah Almighty.
