Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 16) {وَقَالُوْارَبَّنَاعَجِّلْلَّنَاقِطَّنَا …:’’ قَطَّيَقُطُّقَطًّا ‘‘} (N) To cut the tip of the pen, etc. {’’قِطٌّ‘‘} refers to a portion, because everyone is given their portion by cutting it off. The piece of paper written for a reward is also called {’’قِطٌّ‘‘}. What is meant is their portion from the punishment; some have taken it to mean the record of deeds. That is, the disbelievers, considering the Day of Judgment impossible and denying it, and mocking it, reached such a level of audacity that, invoking Allah by His Lordship, they began to say: O our Lord! Whatever portion of the punishment is ours, give it to us quickly before the Day of Reckoning, just as Abu Jahl and others said with great boldness: « اللّٰهُمَّاِنْكَانَهٰذَاهُوَالْحَقَّمِنْعِنْدِكَفَاَمْطِرْعَلَيْنَاحِجَارَةًمِّنَالسَّمَآءِاَوِائْتِنَابِعَذَابٍاَلِيْمٍ »[ الأنفال : ۳۲ ] "O Allah! If this alone is the truth from You, then rain down stones upon us from the sky, or bring upon us a painful punishment."
