Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
Tanween on {جُنْدٌمَّاهُنَالِكَمَهْزُوْمٌمِّنَالْاَحْزَابِ : ’’ جُنْدٌ ‘‘} is for diminution and belittlement, and {’’ مَا ‘‘} is for further emphasis, as it is said: {’’أَكَلْتُشَيْئًامَا،أَيْشَيْئًاقَلِيْلًا‘‘} "I ate a little thing." {’’ جُنْدٌمَّا ‘‘} means a small, insignificant army. {’’ هُنَالِكَ ‘‘} means there, at that place, that is, in opposition to the Messenger of Allah. {’’ الْاَحْزَابِ ‘‘ ’’حِزْبٌ‘‘} is its plural, meaning various armies, groups. That is, what worth does this insignificant army have, which boasts of divine powers and gathers from different groups and armies? Whenever it comes to the field, it is bound to be defeated, as mentioned in Surah Qamar: « سَيُهْزَمُالْجَمْعُوَيُوَلُّوْنَالدُّبُرَ »[ القمر : ۴۵ ] "Soon this group will be defeated and they will turn their backs and flee." On the day of Badr, the Prophet (peace be upon him) advanced towards the field saying {’’ سَيُهْزَمُالْجَمْعُوَيُوَلُّوْنَالدُّبُرَ ‘‘}, then at Uhud, Khandaq, and the conquest of Makkah, every time it happened that the army of the disbelievers was defeated.
