Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 99) ➊ { وَقَالَاِنِّيْذَاهِبٌاِلٰىرَبِّيْ … :} Qurtubi said: “This verse is the basis for migration and separating oneself from the disbelievers.” Even after the great miracle of coming out of the fire safely, when no one except Lut (peace be upon him) believed, Ibrahim (peace be upon him) decided to migrate from there and said, I am leaving my people and my homeland, where disbelief prevails, towards my Lord, where I can worship my Lord freely and invite others to His religion. With him were his wife Sarah and his nephew Lut, peace be upon them both. From this verse, it is understood that when a person cannot fully practice his religion in a place, he should migrate from there.
➋ { سَيَهْدِيْنِ :} This is originally {’’سَيَهْدِيْنِيْ‘‘}, here the “seen” is for emphasis, that is why it is translated as “He will surely guide me.” When Ibrahim (peace be upon him) left his homeland, he did not know where to go, but due to his trust in his Lord, he was certain that He would surely guide him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ اِحْفَظِاللّٰهَيَحْفَظْكَ ][ ترمذي، صفۃ القیامۃ والرقائق، باب : ۲۵۱۶ ] “Be mindful of Allah, He will be mindful of you.” And it is certain that whoever leaves something for the sake of Allah, Allah grants him something better than it. Thus, Allah guided him towards the blessed land of Sham.
