Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 13,12) ➊ {بَلْعَجِبْتَ :} Here, there is a question: what is the benefit of bringing {’’ بَلْ ‘‘} here? The answer is that in the previous verse, Allah Almighty commanded {’’ فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ ‘‘} (ask them): "Is your creation more difficult or that which We have created?" The answer to this can only be that certainly all that Allah Almighty has mentioned at the beginning of this surah is more difficult than recreating man. Thus, the purpose of this question is nothing but to leave them speechless. Despite such clear arguments, why do these people deny the Resurrection? This is something that cannot be understood by a human, rather, O Prophet or O addressed one! You are astonished at this, and you should be astonished, because the matter itself is astonishing, as He said: « وَاِنْتَعْجَبْفَعَجَبٌقَوْلُهُمْءَاِذَاكُنَّاتُرٰبًاءَاِنَّالَفِيْخَلْقٍجَدِيْدٍاُولٰٓىِٕكَالَّذِيْنَكَفَرُوْابِرَبِّهِمْوَاُولٰٓىِٕكَالْاَغْلٰلُفِيْۤاَعْنَاقِهِمْوَاُولٰٓىِٕكَاَصْحٰبُالنَّارِهُمْفِيْهَاخٰلِدُوْنَ»[ الرعد : ۵ ] "And if you are astonished, then astonishing is their saying: 'When we have become dust, will we indeed be [brought] into a new creation?' Those are the ones who have disbelieved in their Lord, and those will have shackles upon their necks, and those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally." ➋ {وَيَسْخَرُوْنَ :} That is, you are astonished at them, and their condition is that when they are left speechless by arguments, they mock.
