Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 49) ➊ { مَا يَنْظُرُوْنَ اِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَّاحِدَةً … :} In response to them, it was not said that the Hour will come at such and such a time, rather, a depiction of some terrifying scenes of the Hour was presented before them.
{اِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَّاحِدَةً :} By "a single blast" is meant the first blowing of the trumpet by Israfil (peace be upon him), by which all creation will die. Allah Almighty said, for the Hour that these people are waiting for, We do not need any elaborate preparation; only a single blowing of the trumpet will suffice, and with the sound of its blast, all people will fall unconscious and die.
{تَاْخُذُهُمْ وَ هُمْ يَخِصِّمُوْنَ : ’’ يَخِصِّمُوْنَ ‘‘} Originally, it is {’’ يَخْتَصِمُوْنَ‘‘} (iftial form). The "ta" was changed to "sad" and merged into the "sad," and for the sake of conformity with "sad," the "kha" was also given a kasrah. The purpose of the merging is to express the intensity of their disputing. That is, the Hour will not come gradually, so that seeing it they might compose themselves, rather, all people will be engaged in their own affairs and will be disputing and arguing with full force with one another, when suddenly, with a single blast, the Hour will be established. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: [ تَقُوْمُ السَّاعَةُ وَالرَّجُلُ يَحْلُبُ اللِّقْحَةَ فَمَا يَصِلُ الْإِنَاءُ إِلٰی فِيْهِ حَتّٰی تَقُوْمَ وَ الرَّجُلَانِ يَتَبَايَعَانِ الثَّوْبَ فَمَا يَتَبَايَعَانِهِ حَتّٰی تَقُوْمَ وَالرَّجُلُ يَلِطُ فِيْ حَوْضِهِ فَمَا يَصْدُرُ حَتّٰی تَقُوْمَ ] [مسلم، الفتن، باب قرب الساعۃ : ۲۹۵۴ ] "The Hour will be established (so suddenly) that a man will be milking his she-camel, but the vessel will not reach his mouth before it is established, and two men will be buying and selling a garment, but they will not be able to complete the transaction before it is established, and a man will be plastering his pond, but he will not return before it is established."
