Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
By {اَلَمْيَرَوْاكَمْاَهْلَكْنَاقَبْلَهُمْ …: ’’ اَلَمْيَرَوْا ‘‘} is meant {’’أَلَمْيَعْلَمُوْا‘‘}, that is, they neither look towards the fate of previous nations nor do they reflect upon it. Those nations also used to mock their messengers, and as a consequence, they were destroyed and their traces were so completely wiped out that none of them ever returned to them, yet the habit of these disbelievers remained the same: whenever a new messenger came, they would begin to mock and ridicule him in the same way as was the custom of the earlier disbelievers, and they would not take any lesson from it. And today, the disbelievers of Makkah are treating the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in the same way. (Kilani) The words of {’’ لَايَرْجِعُوْنَ ‘‘} (they do not return) refute those people who believe that after death, some personalities come back to life and return to the world, and also refute those Hindus who say that all the dead return to the world in some other form. If in their previous life they did good deeds, then in a better form than before, and if they did bad deeds, then in a worse form than before, and this belief is called transmigration or avagone.
