إِنِّىٓ إِذًا لَّفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ﴿24﴾
"Then verily, I should be in plain error.
إِنِّىٓ innī Indeed, I
إِذًۭا idhan then
لَّفِى lafī surely would be in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢ ḍalālin an error
مُّبِينٍ mubīnin clear

(Ayah 24){ اِنِّيْۤ اِذًا لَّفِيْ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيْنٍ :} That is, if I do so, then at that time I will surely be in clear misguidance. The same corrupt beliefs and actions that were present among the people of that town are also found among the people of Makkah. The purpose of mentioning the example of the people of that town is to make the people of Makkah understand.
