Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 4) ➊ {وَاِنْيُّكَذِّبُوْكَفَقَدْكُذِّبَتْرُسُلٌمِّنْقَبْلِكَ :} After mentioning monotheism, the mention of messengership comes. In {’’ وَاِنْيُّكَذِّبُوْكَ ‘‘}, the conjunction "wa" is an indication that there is an omitted sentence before this, whose meaning is: {’’فَإِنْيُصَدِّقُوْكَفَقَدْفَازُوْالِأَنَّكَرَسُوْلُاللّٰهِحَقًّا‘‘} that is, if they affirm you, then they are successful, because you are the true Messenger of Allah.
➋ {’’ وَاِنْيُّكَذِّبُوْكَ ‘‘ } is a conditional clause, its result is omitted but is understood by itself: {’’وَإِنْيُكَذِّبُوْكَفَتَأَسَّبِالرُّسُلِمِنْقَبْلِكَفَقَدْكُذِّبَتْرُسُلٌمِنْقَبْلِكَ‘‘} that is, if they deny you, then take comfort from the conditions of the messengers before you, because many messengers before you were denied and they were patient over their people's denial. In this, there is comfort for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and a warning for the deniers that just as the people who denied the messengers before were destroyed, so too will these people be destroyed. In many places in the Noble Qur'an, you have been comforted by referring to the previous messengers, as He said: «وَلَقَدْكُذِّبَتْرُسُلٌمِّنْقَبْلِكَفَصَبَرُوْاعَلٰىمَاكُذِّبُوْاوَاُوْذُوْاحَتّٰۤىاَتٰىهُمْنَصْرُنَاوَلَامُبَدِّلَلِكَلِمٰتِاللّٰهِوَلَقَدْجَآءَكَمِنْنَّبَاِيالْمُرْسَلِيْنَ »[الأنعام : ۳۴ ] "And indeed, messengers before you were denied, but they were patient over being denied and hurt, until Our help came to them, and there is no one to change the words of Allah, and indeed, some news of those messengers has come to you." And see Surah Ha Mim As-Sajdah (43).
➌ {وَاِلَىاللّٰهِتُرْجَعُالْاُمُوْرُ : } That is, where will these people go after denying you? In the end, all matters will be presented before Us, and We alone will decide them. Along with monotheism and messengership, the mention of the Hereafter is made.
