Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 46) ➊ { وَدَاعِيًااِلَىاللّٰهِ :} That is, you are the one who invites people towards the oneness of Allah and obedience to His commands, and this invitation is not from yourself but Allah has appointed you to this task. Now, whoever opposes this, he is not opposing you but the One who has appointed you.
➋ { وَسِرَاجًامُّنِيْرًا :} In the Quran, the sun has been called "Siraj" in two places, as after mentioning the creation of the heavens one above another, it is said: «{ وَجَعَلَالْقَمَرَفِيْهِنَّنُوْرًاوَّجَعَلَالشَّمْسَسِرَاجًا }»[ نوح : ۱۶ ] "And He made the moon a light therein and made the sun a lamp." And in another place it is said: «{ وَجَعَلْنَاسِرَاجًاوَّهَّاجًا}»[ النبا : ۱۳ ] "And We made a very bright, hot lamp." Here, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is called "Siraj Munir" because Allah made you (peace be upon him) the means to bring people out from the darkness of disbelief and polytheism to the light of faith, just as the sun is made the means to remove the darkness of night and bring light. One reason for calling you "Siraj Munir" is that despite the moon's light in the darkness of night, there still remains a need to light fire or torches for illumination, but when the shining sun rises, there remains no need for any lamp. Similarly, after the coming of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), neither does following any prophet remain, nor is there any room for the taqlid (imitative following) of any imam, elder, or spiritual guide when the Quran and Hadith are present.
