سُوْرَةُ السَّجْدَةِ
Surah As-Sajda (32) — Ayah 26
أَوَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِى مَسَـٰكِنِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ ۖ أَفَلَا يَسْمَعُونَ ﴿26﴾

Is it not a guidance for them: how many generations We have destroyed before them in whose dwellings they do walk about? Verily, therein indeed are signs. Would they not then listen?

(Ayah 26) {اَوَ لَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ اَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ … :} This statement is regarding the polytheists of Arabia: Has it not guided them that We destroyed so many nations before them, whose ruined remains still exist, in which these people walk about, and their desolation is before their eyes? The reference is to the nations of the prophets who came to Arabia, that is, the people of ‘Ad, Thamud, and the people of Madyan, etc. The people of Arabia used to see their ruins with their own eyes and also heard about the conditions of these nations from their elders, yet they did not take any lesson. Therefore, it is said: «{ اَفَلَا يَسْمَعُوْنَ }» So do these people not hear what the outcome is for those who disobey the prophets?
