لِيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ مِن فَضْلِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ ﴿45﴾
That He may reward those who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism), and do righteous good deeds, out of His Bounty. Verily, He likes not the disbelievers.
لِيَجْزِىَ liyajziya That He may reward
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who
ءَامَنُوا۟ āmanū believe
وَعَمِلُوا۟ waʿamilū and do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ l-ṣāliḥāti righteous deeds
مِن min (out) of
فَضْلِهِۦٓ ۚ faḍlihi His Bounty
إِنَّهُۥ innahu Indeed, He
لَا (does) not
يُحِبُّ yuḥibbu like
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ l-kāfirīna the disbelievers

(Ayah 45) ➊ { لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ … :} In this, the reason for the separation of people on the Day of Resurrection has been explained. Baqa'i said: "Here, from each of the two sentences, one part has been omitted and one has been mentioned, from which the omitted part becomes clear by itself." Thus, the detailed statement would be as follows: {’’لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِيْنَ آمَنُوْا وَ عَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ إِنَّهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَ لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا وَ عَمِلُوا السَّيِّئَاتِ بِعَدْلِهِ إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْكَافِرِيْنَ‘‘} "So that He may reward those who believed and did righteous deeds out of His bounty, because He loves the believers, and so that He may recompense those who disbelieved and did evil deeds with His justice, because He does not love the disbelievers." From the first sentence, {’’إِنَّهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ‘‘} has been omitted, and from the second, {’’لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا وَ عَمِلُوا السَّيِّئَاتِ بِعَدْلِهِ‘‘} has been omitted. This is called ihtibak, and to shorten a lengthy statement in this way is one of the beauties of the Qur'an's expression.

{ مِنْ فَضْلِهٖ:} That is, the entry of those with faith and righteous deeds into Paradise will not be on the basis of any entitlement, but purely as a bounty, meaning as a reward greater than the actual recompense. Because if a person in the world expressed gratitude to Allah or lived as His obedient servant, even then the recompense for His previous favors is not fully repaid; how could the recompense for the ability (tawfiq) be given, without which a person can do nothing at all!? Therefore, whatever reward the servants receive will be an extra gift beyond their deeds. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: [ لَنْ يُّدْخِلَ أَحَدًا عَمَلُهُ الْجَنَّةَ ] "No one's deeds will admit him to Paradise." The people asked: [ وَلاَ أَنْتَ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ!؟ ] "Not even you, O Messenger of Allah!?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ لَا، وَلاَ أَنَا إِلاَّ أَنْ يَّتَغَمَّدَنِيَ اللّٰهُ بِفَضْلٍ وَ رَحْمَةٍ ] [ بخاري، المرضٰی، باب تمنی المریض الموت : ۵۶۷۳ ] "No, not even me, unless Allah covers me with His bounty and mercy."
