أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿37﴾
Do they not see that Allâh enlarges the provision for whom He wills and straitens (it for whom He wills). Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who believe.
أَوَلَمْ awalam Do not
يَرَوْا۟ yaraw they see
أَنَّ anna that
ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah
يَبْسُطُ yabsuṭu extends
ٱلرِّزْقَ l-riz'qa the provision
لِمَن liman for whom
يَشَآءُ yashāu He wills
وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ wayaqdiru and straitens (it)
إِنَّ inna Indeed
فِى in
ذَٰلِكَ dhālika that
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ laāyātin surely (are) Signs
لِّقَوْمٍۢ liqawmin for a people
يُؤْمِنُونَ yu'minūna who believe

(Ayah 37) ➊ { اَوَ لَمْ يَرَوْا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَّشَآءُ وَ يَقْدِرُ:} That is, the reason for exulting over prosperity or despairing in adversity is that a person considers prosperity or adversity to be permanent. Such people are directed to the daily observations that occur before them: have they not seen that Allah expands provision for whom He wills and restricts it? The provision of the same person is sometimes abundant and sometimes restricted, and at the same time, someone’s provision is abundant while another’s is restricted. The matter of provision is in His hand. Sometimes, even the most intelligent and learned people fall into poverty, and He gives such sustenance to the uneducated and foolish that the educated and wise are astonished. This is Allah’s power and His wisdom, which only He knows; no one has the power to object. A believer neither considers prosperity to be permanent or the result of his own effort so that he becomes arrogant, nor does he consider adversity to be permanent so that he becomes hopeless. Rather, he always remains in a state between fear and hope, which keeps him away from pride and arrogance as well as from despair and hopelessness.

{اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُّؤْمِنُوْنَ :} That is, there are many signs in making the same person rich at one time and poor at another, and in making someone rich and another poor at the same time. Similarly, there are many signs in the fact that the disbelievers are constantly witnessing the law of change in the world and seeing with their own eyes that no one remains in the same state forever, nor are all people in the same state; provision expands and contracts according to Allah’s will. Despite this, they become arrogant in happiness and despair in adversity as if this state will always remain. In all these things, there are many signs for the believers, because only they benefit from them. The disbelievers neither reflect on them nor do they gain any benefit from them.
