Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 35) {اَمْ اَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطٰنًا … : ’’ اَمْ ‘‘} comes in the middle of the speech; before it, there is a sentence with the interrogative hamzah. What is that sentence here? Razi said: "So are they associating partners merely by following the desires of the self without any proof, or have We sent down any proof to them...?" Our teacher Muhammad Abduh writes: "That is, after all, what is the proof of shirk? Does their intellect say this, or (have We sent down any proof to them and) is it written in any of Our books that We have made such-and-such of your elders partners in Our authority, therefore you can also call upon them for the fulfillment of your needs?"
