Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah2) ➊ { اللّٰهُلَاۤاِلٰهَاِلَّاهُوَ:} This is the claim of this Surah, and due to the invitation to the delegation of Najran, emphasis has been placed on its affirmation. ➋ { الْحَيُّالْقَيُّوْمُ:} These are the beautiful names of Allah, which are among His attributes. Life and self-subsistence are among the essential attributes of Allah. He has always existed and will always remain; death and annihilation do not befall Him. The meaning of {”الْقَيُّوْمُ“} is the sustainer, protector, and overseer of the entire universe; the whole universe is dependent on Him, and He is dependent on no one. The Christians considered Isa (Jesus) (peace be upon him) to be Allah, or the son of Allah, or one of three. Thus, it is being said to them that when Isa (peace be upon him) is a creation of Allah, he was born from his mother's womb, and his birth occurred long after the creation of the universe, and he will also die—and according to the Christians, he has already died—then when neither is his life eternal, nor does he possess self-subsistence, how did he become Allah or the son of Allah?
