Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 18) ➊ {شَهِدَ اللّٰهُ اَنَّهٗ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ:} The only religion acceptable to Allah is Islam, as will be mentioned in the next verse, and the foundation of Islam is the oneness of Allah. This reality is being conveyed to the delegation of Najran and the entire world. The meaning of { ”شَهِدَ“ } is {’’ بَيَّنَ وَ اَعْلَمَ ‘‘}, that is, to state and to inform. (Fath al-Qadeer) A witness is one who informs with certain knowledge. That is, Allah has testified and informed with countless proofs and signs present in His creation and the entire universe, and by sending messages through His messengers, that there is none worthy of worship except Him, while He is established upon justice in all matters and conditions of His creation. And whose testimony can be greater than His? And His pure angels and the people of knowledge have also testified to this. At the end of the verse, the same claim { ”لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ“ } is repeated, and two more proofs are presented: that He is dominant over all and possesses perfect wisdom; none can overpower Him, and none possesses perfect wisdom except Him. If there is anyone, then bring him forth.
{ قَآىِٕمًۢا بِالْقِسْطِ:} This word is in the state of {”اللّٰهُ“}.
