Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 171,170) {وَ يَسْتَبْشِرُوْنَ بِالَّذِيْنَ …:} That is, they rejoice by imagining their Muslim brothers whom they have left engaged in jihad in the way of Allah, thinking that they too will attain a life of pleasure and safety like theirs. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When your brothers were martyred at Uhud, Allah placed their souls in the bodies of green birds, which come to the rivers of Paradise, eat from the fruits of Paradise, and rest near golden lamps under the shade of the Throne. When they saw their pure food and drink and observed their good end, they said: 'If only our brothers could know what good treatment Allah has given us, so that they would not become heedless of jihad and turn away from battle.'" Then Allah said: "I will convey your message." So these verses were revealed: «وَ لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِيْنَ قُتِلُوْا فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ اَمْوَاتًا بَلْ اَحْيَآءٌ » [ أحمد : 265/1، ۲۶۶ح : ۲۳۸۸، عن عبد اللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما و صححہ أحمدشاکر فی المسند : ۲۳۸۹ ] In {’’ يَسْتَبْشِرُوْنَ‘‘}, due to the abundance of letters, the translation is "they rejoice greatly."
