Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 123) {وَّ اَنْتُمْ اَذِلَّةٌ:} This word alludes to the small number of Muslims and their weakness. The location of Badr is about 150 kilometers southwest of Madinah. The Battle of Badr took place on Friday, 17th Ramadan, 2 AH (13 March 624 CE). In this verse, while pointing to the causes of defeat in the Battle of Uhud, there is an invitation to reflect on the events of the Battle of Badr and a teaching of taqwa (God-consciousness) for remaining steadfast in the future. For details of the Battle of Badr, see Surah Al-Anfal (41). (Shawkani, Ibn Kathir)
