Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
O you who believe! Fear Allâh (by doing all that He has ordered and by abstaining from all that He has forbidden) as He should be feared. [Obey Him, be thankful to Him, and remember Him always], and die not except in a state of Islâm [as Muslims (with complete submission to Allâh)].

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 102) ➊ {اتَّقُوااللّٰہَحَقَّتُقَاتِهٖ … :} Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates the explanation of this verse as follows: "He should be obeyed and not disobeyed, He should be remembered and not forgotten, He should be thanked and not shown ingratitude." [ ابن أبی حاتم : 112/3۔ مستدرک حاکم : 323/2، ح : ۳۱۵۹ ] Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) has declared the chain of this statement to be Sahih; the meaning is according to one's ability, as Allah Almighty has said: «فَاتَّقُوااللّٰهَمَااسْتَطَعْتُمْ »[ التغابن : ۱۶ ] "So fear Allah as much as you are able." ➋ {وَلَاتَمُوْتُنَّاِلَّاوَاَنْتُمْمُّسْلِمُوْنَ:} Since there is no knowledge of when death will come, therefore, fear Allah in this way at all times until death arrives.
