Then, when Mûsâ (Moses) had fulfilled the term, and was travelling with his family, he saw a fire in the direction of Tûr (Mount). He said to his family: "Wait, I have seen a fire; perhaps I may bring you from there some information, or a burning fire-brand that you may warm yourselves."

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 29) ➊ { فَلَمَّا قَضٰى مُوْسَى الْاَجَلَ وَ سَارَ بِاَهْلِهٖۤ:} The People of the Book and most Muslim commentators say that during these ten years, the Pharaoh who had raised Musa (peace be upon him) died, and now another Pharaoh was the ruler in his place. (And Allah knows best)
When Musa (peace be upon him) completed that term, he set out from Madyan with his wife, intending to return to his homeland. The evidence for this intention is that Mount Tur is located on the route from Madyan to Egypt. On one hand, there was the longing to meet his parents and siblings; on the other hand, it is possible he thought that people might have forgotten about that incident by now and there would be no difficulty in living there.
A piece of wood with fire at its tip. This incident has been mentioned in detail in Surah Ta-Ha and Surah Naml.
