Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 20) ➊ { وَ جَآءَ رَجُلٌ مِّنْ اَقْصَا الْمَدِيْنَةِ يَسْعٰى …:} On one side, Pharaoh’s men set out to arrest Musa (Moses) عليه السلام, while on the other side, a man present in the assembly immediately came running from the farthest end of the city, taking the nearest route through the streets and markets, and said to Musa عليه السلام, “Musa! The chiefs are consulting to kill you, so leave here at once. I am one of your well-wishers.”

➋ In Surah Ya-Sin it is stated: «{ وَ جَآءَ مِنْ اَقْصَا الْمَدِيْنَةِ رَجُلٌ يَّسْعٰى [ یٰس : ۲۰ ] whereas here it is: «{ وَ جَآءَ رَجُلٌ مِّنْ اَقْصَا الْمَدِيْنَةِ يَسْعٰى. The commentators have said that in every place, the word that is important there is mentioned first. At this place, it is important to mention the manliness of this person, so the word {’’ رَجُلٌ ‘‘} is mentioned first, because despite being aware of the consequences of exposing Pharaoh’s secret, he informed Musa عليه السلام without caring for his own life, and this can only be the act of a man. Furthermore, it was also his manliness that he reached from a very distant place before the official troops.

➌ Shah Abdul Qadir رحمه الله writes: “This was narrated to our Prophet that people would plot to take his life and he too would leave his homeland. Thus, the disbelievers all gathered to attack him together, and on that very night, he migrated from his homeland.” (Muwadhih)
