Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 54) {وَلُوْطًااِذْقَالَلِقَوْمِهٖۤ …:} For the story of Lut (Lot) (peace be upon him), see Surah Al-A'raf (80 to 84), Hud (77 to 83), Al-Hijr (61 to 77), Al-Anbiya (71 to 75), Ash-Shu'ara (160 to 175), Al-Ankabut (28 to 35), As-Saffat (133 to 138), and Al-Qamar (33 to 39). After the incident of Salih (peace be upon him), who was sent to his own relatives and whose people were divided into two groups, believers and disbelievers, the mention is made of that Prophet who was a stranger among his people and not a single person from the people of Sodom believed in him. This Prophet was Lut (peace be upon him). {’’ الْفَاحِشَةَ ‘‘} That act which has reached the extreme in evil. {’’ تُبْصِرُوْنَ ‘‘} This can be with insight or with eyesight. If with insight, it means that you commit this extremely shameless act while you yourselves know that it is a filthy and unnatural deed, which no nation before you has done, and even the most despicable animals do not do such a thing. If with eyesight, it means that you have become so shameless that you do this act in front of each other's eyes, as it is said: «{ وَتَاْتُوْنَفِيْنَادِيْكُمُالْمُنْكَرَ }»[ العنکبوت : ۲۹ ] "And you commit the evil deed in your gathering."
