Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 5) {اُولٰٓىِٕكَالَّذِيْنَلَهُمْسُوْٓءُالْعَذَابِ …:} This is a severe punishment even in this world, that despite wealth and children, they do not attain contentment and peace of heart. He said: «{ وَمَنْاَعْرَضَعَنْذِكْرِيْفَاِنَّلَهٗمَعِيْشَةًضَنْكًاوَّنَحْشُرُهٗيَوْمَالْقِيٰمَةِاَعْمٰى }»[ طٰہٰ : ۱۲۴ ] "And whoever turns away from My remembrance, then surely for him is a constricted life, and We will raise him blind on the Day of Resurrection." Rather, that wealth and children become a cause of punishment for them, as He said: «{ فَلَاتُعْجِبْكَاَمْوَالُهُمْوَلَاۤاَوْلَادُهُمْاِنَّمَايُرِيْدُاللّٰهُلِيُعَذِّبَهُمْبِهَافِيالْحَيٰوةِالدُّنْيَاوَتَزْهَقَاَنْفُسُهُمْوَهُمْكٰفِرُوْنَ }»[ التوبۃ : ۵۵ ] "So let not their wealth and their children impress you; Allah only intends to punish them through them in the life of this world and that their souls should depart while they are disbelievers." Besides this, this punishment comes upon different individuals and nations in various forms. Diseases, poverty, insecurity, killing and bloodshed, and dominance of the enemy—there are countless forms of punishment. Then, at the time of death, there is punishment at the hands of the angels and the stage of punishment in Barzakh, and there is no end to the punishment of the Hereafter. Allah Almighty has declared such people to be the greatest losers in the Hereafter.
