سُوْرَةُ الشُّعَرَآءِ
Surah Ash-Shu'araa (26) — Ayah 94
فَكُبْكِبُوا۟ فِيهَا هُمْ وَٱلْغَاوُۥنَ ﴿94﴾

Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), they and the Ghâwûn (devils, and those who were in error).

(Ayah 95,94) {فَكُبْكِبُوْا فِيْهَا هُمْ وَ الْغَاوٗنَ … : ’’كَبَّ يَكُبُّ‘‘} To throw down on the face. In {’’كَبْكَبَ‘‘}, the repetition of the word creates repetition in the meaning, to throw down again and again. That is, their false deities will be thrown down on their faces into Hell one upon another repeatedly, meaning when they are thrown down on their faces, they will keep stumbling, tumbling over and over, falling down until they reach its depth. Along with them, the misguided people who worshipped them and all the armies of Iblis will also be thrown down in the same way. The idols are mentioned first so that the worshippers may see them falling first and take more lesson. By the armies of Iblis are meant all his followers who kept leading others astray. Tabari has narrated with an authentic chain from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the meaning of {’’ فَكُبْكِبُوْا فِيْهَا ‘‘} is that they will be gathered in it, as if all will be gathered there by being thrown down on their faces.
