Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 74) {قَالُوْا بَلْ وَجَدْنَاۤ اٰبَآءَنَا كَذٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُوْنَ:} That is, these idols of wood, stone, and metal neither hear nor can they bring any benefit or harm, but we found our forefathers doing the same since ancient times, so were all those people foolish who continued to worship them? Surely, they must have had some evidence for their worship. In other words, when no reasonable answer could be given, they resorted to following their ancestors, which is the crutch of every blind person and the last straw for the drowning. This is exactly the condition of those followers who continue to imitate their Imam simply because such and such elders also used to follow him.
