إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ﴿67﴾
Verily in this is indeed a sign (or a proof), yet most of them are not believers.
إِنَّ inna Indeed

(Ayah 67) ➊ {اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَةً:} In saving some and drowning others with the same water, there is indeed a great sign of what happens to those who deny the messengers of Allah. Besides this, revolutions keep occurring among nations and empires, but a revolution accompanied by such an astonishing and magnificent event is a great miracle.

{ وَ مَا كَانَ اَكْثَرُهُمْ مُّؤْمِنِيْنَ:} Here, by {’’ اَكْثَرُهُمْ ‘‘}, it does not mean most of those who came with Pharaoh, because all of them were drowned, and even if they believed at the time of drowning, it was of no use. (See Yunus: 90, 91) What is meant is all those in Egypt who were associated with Pharaoh, that most of them did not believe, very few believed. Among them were Pharaoh’s magicians, his wife Asiya, and a few youths from his people. (See Yunus: 83) In this, there is also consolation for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) that even after witnessing such a magnificent miracle, most of them did not believe, so why should you be so grieved over most of your people not believing? Here, the commentators have mentioned a woman among those who believed in Musa (peace be upon him), upon whose indication the Israelites took the body of Yusuf (peace be upon him) out of his grave and took it with them, and who, on the condition that Musa (peace be upon him) guarantee her companionship with him in Paradise, pointed out the location of the grave. Hafiz Ibn Kathir says, I have narrated this following the commentators, otherwise it is objectionable, meaning this incident is not authentic.
