Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 205 to 207) ➊ {اَفَرَءَيْتَ اِنْ مَّتَّعْنٰهُمْ سِنِيْنَ …:} Their demand to hasten the punishment shows that they do not believe in its coming and hope to live for a long time, that is why they ask for it to come quickly and mock it. Allah said, tell me, if We grant them, according to their expectation, a few years to live and enjoy, then the punishment comes upon them or even death comes, after which there is only punishment, then of what use will be the years they were given to live and benefit from life in saving them from the punishment? (See Baqarah: 96) The entire past period will seem no more than an hour. (See Rum: 55) And according to the statement of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), after the most prosperous disbeliever in the world is dipped once in Hell, he will be asked if he ever saw any good, and he will swear that he did not. [ دیکھیے مسلم، صفات المنافقین، باب صبغ أنعم أھل الدنیا في النار : ۲۸۰۷، عن أنس رضی اللہ عنہ ] In Tafsir Kabir, it is mentioned that Maymun bin Mehran met Hasan Basri during tawaf and requested advice, so he only recited this verse, upon which Maymun said, "You have advised, and what a perfect advice it is."
{ ’’ سِنِيْنَ ‘‘} The sound masculine plural indefinite is used for fewness, meaning that however long a life is given, it is only a few years, because what has passed is always little.
