أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ ﴿204﴾
Would they then wish for Our Torment to be hastened on?
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا afabiʿadhābinā So is it for Our punishment
يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ yastaʿjilūna they wish to hasten

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 204) {اَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُوْنَ:} That is, when the punishment comes, they will ask for respite, and today when respite has been given, they demand punishment. Sometimes they say: «{ فَاَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةً مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ [ الأنفال : ۳۲ ] "So rain down stones upon us from the sky." Sometimes they say: «{ فَاَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ [ الشعراء : ۱۸۷ ] "So make pieces fall upon us from the sky." Sometimes they say: «{ اَوْ تَاْتِيَ بِاللّٰهِ وَ الْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةِ قَبِيْلًا [ بني إسرائیل : ۹۲ ] "Or bring Allah and the angels before us." Sometimes they say: «{ مَتٰى هٰذَا الْوَعْدُ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ [ یونس : ۴۸ ] "When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?"
