Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 188) {قَالَ رَبِّيْۤ اَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ :} Shu‘ayb (peace be upon him) replied that bringing punishment or causing pieces to fall from the sky is not my task, it is the task of my Lord, because He alone knows well what you do, whether punishment is to come upon you or not, and if it is to come, then according to your deeds, when it is to come and to what extent it is to come. My task was to warn, and I have done that. In the incident of Shu‘ayb (peace be upon him), there is also a warning for the Quraysh, because they too used to make such demands from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): «{ اَوْ تُسْقِطَ السَّمَآءَ كَمَا زَعَمْتَ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا اَوْ تَاْتِيَ بِاللّٰهِ وَ الْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةِ قَبِيْلًا [ بني إسرائیل : ۹۲ ] “Or you cause the sky to fall upon us in pieces, as you have claimed, or you bring Allah and the angels before us.”
