Surah Al-Furqaan (25) — Ayah 36

فَقُلْنَا ٱذْهَبَآ إِلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا فَدَمَّرْنَـٰهُمْ تَدْمِيرًا ﴿36﴾
And We said: "Go you both to the people who have denied Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)." Then We destroyed them with utter destruction.
فَقُلْنَا faqul'nā Then We said
ٱذْهَبَآ idh'habā Go both of you
إِلَى ilā to
ٱلْقَوْمِ l-qawmi the people
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who
كَذَّبُوا۟ kadhabū have denied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا biāyātinā Our Signs
فَدَمَّرْنَـٰهُمْ fadammarnāhum Then We destroyed them
تَدْمِيرًۭا tadmīran (with) destruction

(Ayah 36) ➊ { فَقُلْنَا اذْهَبَاۤ اِلَى الْقَوْمِ …:} In the previous verse and in this verse, Allah Almighty mentioned the beginning of the story of Musa (peace be upon him) and Pharaoh, then omitted the entire lengthy story and mentioned the end of their story, because only this much was intended here; this is the perfection of brevity.

{اِلَى الْقَوْمِ الَّذِيْنَ كَذَّبُوْا بِاٰيٰتِنَا:} By these Signs are meant either the miracles that Musa (peace be upon him) brought, or the commands of worshiping only Allah, accepting the prophethood of Musa (peace be upon him), and granting freedom to the Children of Israel, which Musa (peace be upon him) brought from Allah to Pharaoh. They were called deniers of the verses even before the Messenger was sent because Allah Almighty knew that they would deny the verses, or because the people addressed by the Qur'an knew that Pharaoh had denied the verses of Allah. In view of their knowledge, {’’ كَذَّبُوْا بِاٰيٰتِنَا ‘‘} was stated.

{ فَدَمَّرْنٰهُمْ تَدْمِيْرًا:’’ تَدْمِيْرًا ‘‘} To break something in such a way that it cannot be repaired again. (Al-Maraghi) For further clarification, see Surah Bani Isra'il (16).
