ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ شَرِيكٌ فِى ٱلْمُلْكِ وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ تَقْدِيرًا ﴿2﴾
He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Who has begotten no son (children or offspring) and for Whom there is no partner in the dominion. He has created everything, and has measured it exactly according to its due measurements.
ٱلَّذِى alladhī The One Who
لَهُۥ lahu to Him (belongs)
مُلْكُ mul'ku (the) dominion
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti (of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ wal-arḍi and the earth
وَلَمْ walam and not
يَتَّخِذْ yattakhidh He has taken
وَلَدًۭا waladan a son
وَلَمْ walam and not
يَكُن yakun He has
لَّهُۥ lahu for Him
شَرِيكٌۭ sharīkun a partner
فِى in
ٱلْمُلْكِ l-mul'ki the dominion
وَخَلَقَ wakhalaqa and He (has) created
كُلَّ kulla every
شَىْءٍۢ shayin thing
فَقَدَّرَهُۥ faqaddarahu and determined it
تَقْدِيرًۭا taqdīran (with) determination

(Ayah 2) ➊ { الَّذِيْ لَهٗ مُلْكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ :} In this verse, Allah Almighty has mentioned His four attributes which are proof of His oneness. The first is that the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth belongs to Him alone, not to anyone else. He alone is the One Who governs both, and all others depend on Him for their existence and survival.

{ وَ لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا :} This is the second attribute; for details, see the commentary of the last verse of Surah Bani Isra'il. In this is a refutation of the Jews and Christians, and also of those false Muslims who consider the Prophet (peace be upon him), or Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them), or anyone else, to be a part of Allah's light.

{ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَّهٗ شَرِيْكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ :} This is the third attribute. In {’’ لَمْ يَكُنْ ‘‘} there is the continuity of negation, which is why it is translated as "nor has there ever been any partner with Him in His sovereignty." In this is a refutation of all kinds of polytheists, such as idol worshippers, grave worshippers, those who believe in two gods, and those who commit hidden shirk, etc.

{ وَ خَلَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَقَدَّرَهٗ تَقْدِيْرًا :} This is the fourth attribute: that He alone created everything, then determined for it a specific measure, by virtue of which only those actions and effects are produced from it for which it was created, and He granted it that form, size, and abilities which were needed according to its requirements. For example, He granted humans understanding and perception, reflection and contemplation, skill and craft, and the ability to perform beneficial tasks. Similarly, every animal, plant, and inanimate object was made according to the purpose required from it. When no one except Allah has created anything, then why worship anyone else?
